A publication dedicated to showcasing the work of young, unknown artists across North America.  From 2016 - 2018 Grounders published four magazines, blogged countless interviews, and hosted events in both Toronto and Vancouver. With a collaborative team Grounders covered a broad range of media - refusing to focus on any one art form - and bringing the spotlight to dozens of creatives.

Grounders Issue 1 (2016)

Issue 1, released in spring 2016, was the first work that the Grounders team created. This issue was an experiment that turned into a big idea. It featured artists whom were personally contacted. After the positive feedback we decided to continue with another the project with future issues and events.

Issue 2 was the first issue that open to submissions. Released in the summer of 2016 it was created after the majority of the founding team had moved apart. Despite design taking place on both ends of Canada, Issue 2 was a testament to our dedication and a huge improvement in design, editing, and process to Issue 1.

Grounders Issue 3 (2017)

Grounders Issue 3, spring 2017, took on a whole new approach. Artists were still chosen through submissions but the writing featured everyone's responses to a single question. The goal was to show the diverse opinions and visions that our generation has on the current state of the world. Issue 3 features the work of 13 talented artists from around North America and can be purchased online.
This is the first issue that completely sold out of physical copies and was made available online. The design of the issue changed - its size was reduced to a 6 x 9 inch magazine. The idea was to make it feel like a novel.

Grounders Issue 4 was the last work published by Grounders.  Published in fall of 2017, copies are available online and virtually. Featuring the work of 17 talented artists from around North America. In this issue we asked artists about what changes their perspective.
